This October, Mix Cares is turning compassion into action. The Mix Cares Diaper Drive is a month-long mission to support the Indiana Diaper Bank and help families in need across our community.

The drive is a team effort between 107.9 The Mix and our sister station 99.5 WZPL, and every donation goes to the Indiana Diaper Bank.
What Is Diaper Need?
Believe it or not, one in two families struggles to provide clean diapers for their baby. It’s a serious issue that affects the physical, mental, and economic well-being of children and families.
Officially, “diaper need” is the lack of a sufficient supply of diapers to keep a baby clean, dry, and healthy. The average household in need falls 19 diapers short every month, and assistance programs like WIC and SNAP (food stamps) do not cover diapers.
Here in Indiana, the need is even greater. Our state ranks higher than the national average for children living in poverty, and those children face the greatest risk of diaper need. Until recently, struggling families had very few places to turn for front-line diaper programs. That’s where the Indiana Diaper Bank comes in.
How Diaper Need Affects Babies and Families
A diaper might seem small, but going without one has real consequences:
- Health: Babies are more vulnerable to painful rashes and urinary tract infections, which means more trips to the doctor.
- Missing work or school: Three in five parents miss work or school because they can’t afford the diapers needed to leave their baby at childcare.
- Development: A wet or dirty diaper keeps babies from engaging with and exploring the world around them.
- Stress: Parents facing poverty may have to choose between buying food, paying bills, or buying diapers. That’s why half of households report stress over diapers.
How You Can Help
There are two easy ways to get involved:
- Drop off diapers at the 107.9 The Mix and 99.5 WZPL studios, located together at 6810 N. Shadeland Ave., Indianapolis, IN 46220, or at any participating sponsor location.
- Donate online through our Amazon Wish List. Every dollar goes directly to the Indiana Diaper Bank.
